Wise Guys Trivia, LLC ("Wise Guys Trivia", "we", "us") is based in Massachusetts and runs trivia nights and musical bingo at venues in Massachusetts and other states. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Who this covers

Three different groups, and we collect different things from each:

Visitors to this website, who may send us an enquiry.
Hosts — the people who run our events — who use our scheduling portal.
Players — the people who come to our events — who make a free account to find nights near them and get emails about them.

What we collect from website visitors

If you send us an enquiry through our contact form, we collect the name, email address, phone number, subject and message you type, along with your IP address and the date and time you sent it.

We collect that information only because you chose to send it to us. We do not add any tracking or advertising technology to this site. Our web host, GoDaddy, may add its own standard analytics and performance script, and set its own cookies, to operate its hosting service.

What we collect from hosts

When someone registers as a host, we collect their name, the name they go by, mobile number, email address, home ZIP code and a password, which is stored only in an encrypted form that cannot be read back.

We ask hosts for a ZIP code. A person who applies to host also gives a home address. The ZIP is used to work out roughly how far a venue is from a host, so we can offer shifts sensibly.

While a host works with us, we also keep records of their work: which events they are scheduled for, when they checked in, the completion of their event checklist, the attendance numbers they report, photographs they upload from events, and any equipment they hold.

For anyone signed in, we record the IP address and browser of the session, which is how we keep accounts secure.

What we collect from players

When someone makes a player account, we collect their email address and a password, which is stored only in an encrypted form that cannot be read back. If they choose to, a player can also save a ZIP code, how far they will travel, the kinds of night they like, the nights they want in the weekly email, and the venues and alerts they follow. We keep the dates they turned the weekly email on or off. We use these details to show nights near them and to send the emails they asked for.

How we use it

To answer enquiries sent through the contact form.
To schedule hosts, arrange cover when someone cannot work, and run our events.
To send hosts operational messages by email and text — see our SMS Terms of Service.
To show players nights near them and send them the emails they asked for.
To keep accounts secure and to understand how our events are running.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information, and we never have.
We do not share SMS consent with third parties or affiliates.
We do not use it for advertising, and we do not add advertising or analytics trackers of our own to this website.
We do not send marketing texts. Texts go only to hosts, and only about their work.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the services that make our operations work — our email delivery provider and our telephone and messaging provider — and only to the extent they need it to deliver a message. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Mobile numbers and SMS consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Our messaging provider receives a host's number only in order to deliver a message we have asked it to send on our behalf.

We use one cookie to keep hosts and players signed in, and it is set only when someone signs in. When anyone opens a form on this site, such as the contact form, we also set a short-lived form-security cookie, used only to stop forged submissions. Neither is used for tracking or advertising. Our web host may set its own cookies, as described above.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries, host records and player accounts for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet our legal and tax obligations, and then we delete them.

Your choices

Players can update their own details in their account, and hosts in the portal, at any time. To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it, contact us at the address below and we will respond.

Children

This site and our portal are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page.
